Intelligent Features. Smart Technology.
This car has so many optional intelligent features, you almost expect it to tell you where to go and what to anticipate on the way. There’s a voice-activated Navigation System that provides you with current local gas prices on top of voice-guided turn-by-turn directions. Another feature warns you if it senses a potential collision and provides brake support. The invisible keypad and push button start makes locking yourself out of the car a thing of the past. Now that’s smart. Just like so many of the features on Taurus.
BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System)
The available class-exclusive* BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross Traffic Alert is yet another new innovation available on the 2010 Ford Taurus. When a vehicle enters the blind spot zone, an indicator light provides a warning in the outside mirror corresponding to the side from which the vehicle is approaching. The Cross Traffic Alert feature uses blind spot monitoring sensors to audibly and visually alert you to impending traffic while slowly backing out of a driveway/parking spot and another vehicle is approaching from either side. BLIS with Cross Traffic Alert is optional on Taurus Limited and SHO models. *Five-passenger Large Car class.
Voice-Activated Navigation System
Get directions, information on traffic backups, even gas prices. The available new voice-activated Navigation System with integrated class-exclusive* SIRIUS Travel Link™** on the 2010 Taurus combines Global Positioning System (GPS) technology with 3-D mapping to provide turn-by-turn voice guidance. But that’s only for starters. Available SYNC® in-car voice-activated communications and entertainment system and more. SYNC® is an in-car voice-activated communications system that allows you to operate most popular MP3 players, Bluetooth®-enabled phones and flash drives with simple voice commands.* Segment-exclusive SYNC includes 911 Assist™,** Vehicle Health Report, real-time traffic conditions, turn-by-turn directions and other information.†*Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control. Only use mobile phones and other devices, even with voice commands, when it is safe to do so . **The vehicle’s electrical system (including the battery), the wireless service provider’s signal and a connected mobile phone all must be available and operating for 911 Assist to function properly. These systems may become damaged in a crash. The paired mobile phone must be connected to SYNC, and the 911 Assist feature enabled, in order for 911 to be dialed. † When paired with voice-activated Navigation System, SYNC® traffic, directions and information services are replaced by the vehicle’s Navigation System with integrated SIRIUS Travel Link™.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Active safety technology in Ford Taurus takes a giant step forward with the available new, class-exclusive* Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support. Adaptive Cruise Control is a truly adaptable feature. Activate it and it functions just like normal cruise control -- with one exception. When adaptive cruise control sensors detect traffic slowing, your vehicle also slows down. When its sensors detect traffic has cleared, your vehicle resumes the set speed. Collision Warning with Brake Support helps in case an accident appears imminent. This function will alert you if it senses a potential collision with the car in front of you. A “heads-up” display, which simulates brake lights, flashes on the windshield. If you don't react and a collision is imminent, the brakes will precharge and increase brake assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you brake. Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support is available on 2010 Taurus Limited and SHO models.
MyKey™
Help make driving safer for your young drivers. The standard class-exclusive* programmable MyKey™ provides a number of features to help you make driving safer for young drivers. Standard settings – These settings cannot be changed: • Belt-Minder® System cannot be disabled and will not expire (the stereo also gets muted until everyone buckles up)** • The audio system will be muted whenever Belt-Minder is activated • Low-fuel warnings are displayed in the message center followed by a chime when the Distance-to-Empty value reaches 75 miles (120 km) • If equipped, the parking aid, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS™) with cross-traffic alert and forward collision warning cannot be turned off Optional settings – These settings can be changed: • Vehicle speed is limited to 80 mph (130 kmh). Visual warnings and chimes are displayed: • At vehicle start to inform the driver that the vehicle speed is limited to 80 mph (130 kmh) • At 75 mph to warn the driver that the vehicle speed is near the top speed • At 80 mph to warn the driver that the vehicle has reached the top speed • The driver is encouraged to check his/her speed and drive safely via visual warnings and chimes when a preselected vehicle speed of 45, 55 or 65 mph (75, 90, or 105 kmh) is exceeded • The maximum volume of the audio system is limited to 45 percent. • The AdvanceTrac® System cannot be turned off. When this optional setting is on, the MyKey user will not be able to deactivate the system. This prevents the driver from burning the tires.
Intelligent Access
Starting your Taurus is a breeze with the available Intelligent Access with push-button start. First, make sure the key fob is in your pocket or somewhere in the car (including the trunk). Next, press the brake pedal and then the start button. Just shift into gear and go.
Rear View Camera
Get a picture of what's behind you. When you select the new high-performance Taurus SHO, you can equip it with the available rear view camera. It provides a video image of the area behind your vehicle on the interior rearview mirror (or navigation screen, if the vehicle is equipped with the available Voice-activated Navigation System).
3.5L EcoBoost™ V6 engine
The 3.5L EcoBoost™ is the first North American production twin- turbocharged direct-injection V6 engine. And Taurus SHO is the first and only vehicle in its class to feature the EcoBoost engine.* This engine provides better fuel economy** and fewer emissions as compared to a V8. EcoBoost combines two different technologies – turbocharging and direct-injection – to deliver the performance of a much larger engine with the fuel economy of a smaller engine.** It churns out 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque across a wide 1,500 – 5,000 rpm range. And it does all that with an estimated 17 city/25 highway fuel economy.** Compared to a naturally aspirated engine, the 3.5L EcoBoost twin-turbocharged direct-injection V6 engine provides higher performance, better fuel economy** and fewer CO2 emissions: • Improved transient response enabled by the direct injector reduces “turbo lag,” overcoming the traditional disadvantage of downsizing and boosting • More efficient fuel consumption is the result of a high compression ratio enabled by direct injection, which provides air charge cooling.
Six-Speed SelectShift Automatic™ Transmission
It’s an automatic transmission that delivers the sportiness of a manual. The fun-to-drive six-speed SelectShift Automatic™ transmission with paddle activation, standard on SEL, Limited and SHO models, gives you the performance feel of a manual transmission without the clutch. Using steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, you can easily and quickly shift gears.
Unique Sport-Tuned Suspension
Taurus SHO features a sport-tuned suspension with unique shock absorbers, springs, stabilizer bars and strut mount bushings. These components were specifically developed to deliver impressive road holding, cornering agility and steering responsiveness. The rear suspension is a multilink SR1 design that increases suspension travel for enhanced dynamic control and ride quality.

Surround yourself with quiet. Taurus is designed with features that help make your ride a quiet one. So quiet that there is a single audio speaker in Taurus SHO whose sole job is to pull in the muscular music the engine revs provide. Ice Blue™ Lighting
The forward-leaning center control cluster features Ice Blue Lighting, as do the center stack and switches. Not only does Ice Blue Lighting create a cool interior mood, it helps make vital driving information, such as speed and fuel status, easy to view, especially at night.
Ambient Lighting
Set the mood in your Taurus with a lighting hue to match you. Ambient lighting features light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that illuminate the front and rear footwells, door handles and two front cupholders. Scroll through and select the color you want – Ice Blue™, orange, soft blue, red, green, blue and purple. There are also five dimmer levels to adjust the intensity of the light. Available on Taurus SEL and standard on the Limited and SHO models.
Leather-Trimmed Heated Front Seats
These available seats will help keep you warm. To help keep you and your front-seat passenger comfortable when the mercury drops, opt for the available leather-trimmed heated front seats with three comfort settings in the Taurus SEL.
Available Climate-Controlled Front Seats
These seats keep you comfortable, no matter what the season. Taurus Limited and SHO models can be equipped with available heated and cooled front seats with three comfort settings. You can also add available second-row heated seats for your rear seat passengers on Limited and SHO models.
Multi Contour Seats with Active Motion™
It’s a good bet you’ve never been in a car with seats that provide a massage. Until now. The available industry-exclusive multi-contour driver’s and front passenger seats in Taurus SEL, Limited and SHO models feature six-way lumbar and subtle rolling-pattern massage to help make your ride more relaxing and help reduce driver fatigue. The bottom cushion features Active Motion™, which provides a therapeutic massage, stirring a change of muscular activation to help you avoid back pain.
