No-Compromise Hybrid

Regenerative Braking
When you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, the kinetic energy produced during the braking process is lost as heat. During braking in the Escape Hybrid, the vehicle’s electric motor captures a portion of the energy and sends it back to the battery pack to be stored for later use. Thus, whenever you apply the brakes, you’re also recharging the vehicle’s battery pack. How’s that for smart?

Eco-Friendly Seats
The standard, innovative Earth-friendly cloth seat fabric in the Escape XLT and the Escape Hybrid is made from 100 percent post-industrial materials — polyester fibers that would have ended up in landfills otherwise. Furthermore, the cushions use a bio-based polyurethane foam derived from the oils of various plant seeds, such as soybeans. More than simply "green," the durable, comfortable and stylish nature of the material also makes it a perfect fit for the Escape.
Available Hybrid Center Stack Display
Monitor the performance of the Escape Hybrid at a glance with this center stack display. Integrated into the available Navigation System screen, it features an energy flow monitor. There are also power and efficiency monitors that coach you on how to maximize fuel efficiency by making the most of the vehicle’s electric mode.
Lively (and Green) Acceleration
The Escape Hybrid delivers lively acceleration with low environmental impact and excellent fuel economy. This is the result of pairing an electric motor and gasoline engine. The electric motor can propel the vehicle up to 44 mph on its own under light acceleration. When extra power is needed, the 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I-4 gas engine joins in to deliver brisk acceleration. This engine features late intake valve closing (LIVC) as well as advancements in processor technology for a smooth transition from electric to gas mode.
Flex-Fuel Engine
The available 240-horsepower 3.0L Duratec® V6 engine for the Escape is flex fuel-capable. It’s designed to operate on standard unleaded gasoline or E85 alternative fuel. Such flexibility allows the vehicle owner to choose E85 fuel, which is a combination of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent conventional gasoline, wherever it's available for purchase.
Hybrid Component Warranty
In addition to the standard 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, the Escape Hybrid comes with an extended 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty covering unique hybrid components. These are the high-voltage battery (non-California emissions states), electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT) and DC/DC converter. Available Active Park Assist
If you could use a little assistance when parallel parking, Ford is your helping hand. It's called active park assist. While you’re driving slowly near parking spots, simply activate park assist and it looks for an available parking spot. Ultrasonic sensors measure the distance to the curb and between parked cars. Once a spot that's big enough is identified, you're signaled to stop and accept the system's assistance. All you do is control the shifting, accelerating and braking. Active park assist lets you park in less than 24 seconds.
Rear View Camera
The available rear view camera provides a video image of the area behind your vehicle on the interior rearview mirror or on the navigation screen (if your vehicle is equipped with the available Navigation System). Activated automatically when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, the rear view camera can alert you to certain objects behind your vehicle.
MyKey®
MyKey technology is designed to help parents encourage teenagers to drive more safely. It allows owners to designate a key that will operate special features for teen drivers. For example, MyKey can restrict the vehicle’s top speed to 80 mph and limit the entertainment system’s audio volume to 45 percent of maximum. It also provides a warning when the fuel tank reaches 75 miles to empty, allows the administrator to select speed alert chimes at 45, 55 or 65 mph, and sets the Belt-Minder® System to chime, while muting the audio system, until the safety belt is buckled. Additionally, it limits tire spinning by ensuring the traction control system cannot be deactivated. Standard on all Escape models.

The available 3.0L Duratec® V6 engine produces 240 horsepower and 223 lb.-ft. of torque, perfect for towing loads up to 3,500 lbs. when properly equipped. Mated to a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission, this engine delivers an EPA-estimated 25 hwy mpg* and can operate on standard unleaded gasoline or E85 alternative fuel.
Six-Speed Automatic Transmission
The smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission is available with the standard 2.5L Duratec® I-4 engine and standard with the available 3.0L Duratec® V6. With its wide span of gear ratios across the six speeds, this transmission provides responsive acceleration at the low end and excellent highway fuel economy* in the overdrive sixth gear.

Intelligent 4WD
Whether traveling on- or off-road, the available Intelligent 4WD System in the Escape is always on, working to help provide maximum traction. What’s so smart about the system is its ability to sense traction input 200 times per second and automatically adjust torque distribution as needed. Such adjustments work to help ensure maximum grip where the rubber meets the road.
AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®)
All the Escape models come equipped with standard AdvanceTrac® with RSC®. This stability control system features gyroscopic sensors that measure both vehicle yaw and roll motion. If you corner too quickly or swerve to avoid an object, RSC® automatically applies brake pressure and adjusts engine power to help you keep your vehicle under control.*
Excellent Handling
The excellent handling characteristics of the Escape can be attributed, in part, to the independent double-lateral and semi-trailing arm design of the vehicle’s rear suspension system. This design allows each rear wheel to operate independently and negotiate road conditions individually. An 18.5mm rear stabilizer bar and precise suspension tuning also contribute to the controlled, responsive ride.
Big Towing Capacity
If you’re towing a boat or camper, the available 240-horsepower 3.0L Duratec® V6 engine provides the power you need. This muscular engine gives the Escape excellent towing capacity – up to 3,500 lbs. when equipped with the available Class II Trailer Tow Package. In addition, there’s trailer sway control that automatically determines from the yaw motion of the vehicle if the trailer is swaying and takes measures – such as applying precise braking or reducing engine torque – to help bring both the vehicle and the trailer under control.
Versa-utility.
Don't let the "small SUV" category fool you. There’s roomy, comfortable seating for five plus a versatile cargo area with 31.4 cu. ft. (30.9 cu. ft. in the Escape Hybrid) of space behind the rear seats. Need more room? Fold the rear seats down for 67.2 cu. ft. (66.4 in the Escape Hybrid) of total storage space. The roof rack can carry up to 100 lbs. of cargo with the available crossbars. Even the smallest storage needs are accommodated, with a three-tier storage system in the center console that has a hidden level big enough for a laptop or a purse.
Safety Features
The Escape is designed to help create a safe interior environment with a strong body structure that includes a front crumple zone and side-door intrusion beams and standard comprehensive airbag coverage. Dual-stage front airbags,* included in the Personal Safety System,™ enhance protection coverage for the driver and front passenger. The six standard airbags also include front seat-mounted side airbags and the Safety Canopy® System with side curtain airbags.* Additionally, standard side view mirrors with integrated spotter mirrors help reduce rear vision blind spots.
Cargo Space
The Escape can carry passengers, cargo or a combination of both. Featuring front bucket seats and a 60/40 split-fold rear bench seat, the Escape can accommodate five passengers plus their cargo (31.4 cu. ft. of space behind the rear seats, 30.9 cu. ft. in the Escape Hybrid). If you require more room for your gear, you can fold down both rear seat backs for 67.2 cu. ft. of total cargo space (66.4 cu. ft. in the Escape Hybrid). If you have an extra passenger and a little less cargo, simply leave one of the seat backs up. It’s that simple.
Wet Trunk Bin
The Escape can be equipped with an available wet trunk to store and protect your personal items. Included in the Cargo Package, the lockable wet trunk bin is positioned underneath the rear cargo area away from prying eyes. Not available on the Hybrid models.
Roof Rack
When it comes time to load and go, you’ll be glad you have available roof rails. Just add optional Ford Accessory crossbars and a Ford Accessory rack or carrier to match your activity – from bicycling to kayaking to skiing and more. The side rails are black on the XLS, XLT and the Escape Hybrid, chrome on the Escape Limited and the Hybrid Limited. The available Cargo Package, optional on the Escape XLS and XLT and standard on the Escape Limited, offers further cargo-carrying convenience. It features a cargo area cover, roof rails with crossbars and a wet trunk bin.
Designed for Comfort
Dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control (DEATC) allows you and your front passenger to set individual temperature zones for complete comfort. DEATC comes standard on all the Escape Hybrid models (shown), and is available on the Escape Limited.
Talk About Versatility
It’s the little things in the Escape that make a big impression. Take the floor console, which features a three-tier storage system with two removable bins. A hidden storage level at the bottom is even large enough to hold a laptop computer or purse.
Easy Fuel® Capless Fuel Filler
With the standard Easy Fuel® capless fuel filler, fill-ups are quick and eliminate the possibility of driving off with a missing or improperly installed gas cap. The industry-first feature also helps to reduce smog-forming evaporative emissions. When fueling is completed and the fuel pump nozzle is removed, the feature automatically seals shut.
Power Moonroof
Enjoy the sunshine and fresh air with the available power moonroof. Open or close the moonroof with the push of a button. There is also a vent feature if you simply want fresh air in the cabin. A sunshade and mini overhead console are included. The moonroof and Ford SYNC® are included in the Sun & SYNC® Package on the Escape XLT. The moonroof and 320-watt Premium Sound System are included in the Moon & Tune Package in the Escape Limited. The moonroof is standard on the Hybrid Limited and optional on the Hybrid.
