Reduced Emissions
Not only does Escape Hybrid thrive in city driving, it's easy on the environment too, meeting strict Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV II) and Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) standards.
Regenerative Braking
When you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, the energy produced during the braking process is lost as heat. During braking in Escape Hybrid, the vehicle’s electric motor captures the energy and sends it back to the battery pack to be stored for later use. Thus, whenever you apply the brakes, you’re also recharging the vehicle’s battery pack. How’s that for smart?
Nickel-Metal-Hydride (NiMH) Battery
The innovative Escape Hybrid nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) battery is completely sealed and securely encased, and stored neatly under the flat rear cargo area load floor. What's more, the Regenerative Braking System recharges the NiMH battery each time you apply the brakes. A unique Hybrid component, it's covered under the 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty in non-California emissions states and under the 10-year/150,000-mile limited Hybrid battery warranty in certain other green-conscious states. See your dealer for details.
Eco-Friendly Seats
The standard innovative Earth-friendly cloth seat fabric in Escape Hybrid is made from 100 percent post-industrial materials — polyester fibers that would have ended up in landfills otherwise. Furthermore, the cushions use a bio-based polyurethane foam derived from the oils of various plant seeds such as soybeans. More than simply "green," the durable, comfortable and stylish nature of the material also makes it a perfect fit for Escape Hybrid.
SYNC®
The available voice-activated SYNC® communications and entertainment system* allows you to access your music collection by genre, album, artist or song title and operate your Bluetooth®-enabled phone using simple voice commands. With SYNC, you can even make music selections through your flash drive by voice command. Want to know more? Go to syncmyride.com. *Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control. Only use mobile phones and other devices, even with voice commands, when it is safe to do so. The Bluetooth word mark is a trademark of the Bluetooth SIG, Inc.
AdvanceTrac® with RSC®
All 2010 Ford Escape models come equipped with standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®). It’s the only stability control system with gyroscopic sensors that measure both vehicle yaw and roll motion. That means, if you corner too quickly or swerve to avoid an object, RSC® automatically applies brake pressure and adjusts engine power to help you keep your vehicle under control. But remember: even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. It's always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions.
Gas / Electric Hybrid
2010 Ford Escape Hybrid is partially an electrically-propelled vehicle. Its innovative nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) battery, which stores the energy the vehicle uses, is securely encased and set neatly under the flat rear cargo area load floor. What's more, the Regenerative Braking System recharges the NiMH battery each time the brakes are applied. The electric motor inside 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid is capable of propelling the vehicle up to 44 mph on its own. When extra power is needed — such as during passing or merging situations — the electric motor combines with the gasoline engine to deliver lively acceleration.

Active Park Assist
If you dread the thought of parallel parking, Ford has your answer. It’s called Active Park Assist, now available on 2010 Escape Hybrid Limited models. Here’s how it works: While driving slowly in the parking zone, activate Park Assist and it looks for an available parking spot. Ultrasonic sensors measure the distance to the curb and between parked cars. Once a spot that’s big enough is identified, you’re signaled to stop and accept the system’s assistance. When you give the system the green light to proceed, Park Assist controls the steering, all you do is control the braking.
Lively Acceleration
The electric motor inside 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid is capable of propelling the vehicle up to 44 mph on its own. When extra power is needed — such as during passing or merging situations — the electric motor combines with the gasoline engine to deliver lively acceleration. The 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I-4 engine features late intake valve closing (LIVC), as well as advancements in processor technology for smooth transition from gas to electric mode.
Intelligent 4WD
Whether traveling on- or off-road, the available Intelligent 4WD System for Ford Escape Hybrid is always on and always working to help provide maximum traction.
