ELECTRIC MOTOR AND I-4 GAS ENGINE
Hybrid Powertrain
Fusion Hybrid propulsion is supplied by a combination of two sources: an electric motor powered by an innovative nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery, and the next generation of the 2.5L Atkinson-Cycle I-4 gas engine which features late intake valve closing (iVCT) as well as advancements in processor technology for seamless transition from electric to gas mode . The electric motor can propel Fusion Hybrid up to 47 miles per hour in Electric Vehicle mode, faster than any other hybrid vehicle. The gas engine provides the power after 47 miles per hour and when needed, such as quick acceleration situations and hill climbing. Combined power rating of the electric motor and gas engine is 191 net horsepower. Fusion Hybrid delivers plenty of power. And best of all, it’s the most fuel-efficient hybrid sedan in America.*

Flex Fuel Capability
The available 3.0L Duratec V6 has been updated and puts out more than 19 more horsepower than last year’s 3.0L Duratec. What’s more, it now has Flex Fuel capability. You can run on unleaded gasoline, E85 (up to 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) or any mix of the two. So you can fill up wherever you are, even if E85 isn't readily available.
47 MPH in EV Mode
Fusion Hybrid can go up to 47 miles per hour in Electric Vehicle (EV) mode. No other hybrid vehicle can match this top speed in EV mode. This helps Fusion Hybrid achieve a class-leading 41 miles per gallon in city traffic and over 700 miles on a single tank of gas.* And that’s an important fact well worth considering when investing in a hybrid vehicle.

Energy Flow Display
Included in the available Navigation System is the Hybrid Energy Flow Display. It lets you to track the powertrain's four modes of operation — Hybrid Drive, Electric Drive, Gas Engine and Idle Charging — plus overall fuel economy.
Easy Fuel™ Filler System
The standard Easy Fuel™ capless fuel filler has an integrated spring-loaded door that allows you to simply insert the fuel nozzle into the tank to fill up. No screw cap is required. And because Easy Fuel™ automatically seals after the fuel nozzle is removed, fewer evaporative emissions are released into the environment.
Regenerative Braking
When you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, kinetic energy is lost to heat due to friction. During braking in the Fusion Hybrid, the regenerative braking system captures 94 percent of this energy that is normally lost and sends it back to the battery pack to be stored for later use. Not only is regenerative braking efficient, but it helps minimize wear on the brake pads, lowering the cost of maintenance.
Eco-Friendly Cloth Seats
Earth-friendly seating fabric in the Fusion Hybrid is made from 85 percent post-industrial materials -- polyester fibers that would otherwise have ended up in landfills.
SYNC® with More Features
2010 Fusion offers all the great features of the available voice-activated Ford SYNC® System* -- plus two new features: 911 Assist™ and Vehicle Health Report. With SYNC you can access your music collection on your MP3 player by genre, album, artist or song title and operate your Bluetooth®-enabled phone with simple voice commands. You can even make music selections through your flash drive by voice command. SYNC gets a major system upgrade with the addition of 911 Assist. Within seconds after airbag deployment, SYNC uses your cell phone connection you programmed into the system to make a call to a local 911 emergency operator. A pre-recorded message will then play when the call is answered, and you’ll be able to communicate with the 911 operator.† Along with 911 Assist™, SYNC will offer a Vehicle Health Report feature. SYNC gathers information from the vehicle’s control modules and transmits it through the cell phone connection you programmed into the system to Ford by way of an 800-number. You can receive these health reports free of charge by e-mail or text-message alerts. SYNC is optional in Fusion SE; standard in Fusion SEL and Sport models and also in the Fusion Hybrid .

SmartGauge™ Cluster with EcoGuide
The exclusive dual LCD SmartGauge™ Cluster with EcoGuide is an innovative gauge cluster that provides real-time information to help you get the most efficiency from your Fusion Hybrid. SmartGauge™ with EcoGuide uses dual liquid crystal display (LCD) screens on either side of the center-mounted speedometer. A tutorial built into the display lets you choose one of four data screens for the level of information you want — Inform, Enlighten, Engage or Empower — and explains your options within each. Steering wheel-mounted controls make it all easy. All levels can indicate instant fuel economy; fuel economy history; odometer; engine coolant temperature; plus trip data including fuel economy, time-elapsed fuel economy and miles to empty . Voice-Activated Navigation System
The optional voice-activated Navigation System provides more advanced features in the new 2010 Fusion. Navigational aids include detailed freeway exit, turn and ramp transition lane guidance; street name announcement; and current location display. Also part of the system is a 10-gibabyte hard drive for storing photos, ripping CDs, and managing music with the Jukebox function. And there's the greater wealth of travel information the SIRIUS Travel Link™ service provides, such as real-time traffic and weather conditions plus area gas stations with fuel prices.* The system comes with a single-disc CD/DVD player and Sony® Sound System featuring 12 speakers. Watch a DVD when the vehicle is in Park – a really nice feature. What's more, the Hybrid Energy Flow Display on Fusion Hybrid equipped with the Navigation System lets you track the powertrain's four main modes of operation (Hybrid Drive, Electric Drive, Gas Engine and Idle Charging ) and overall fuel economy.

The system features Dolby DAEP 5.1 Surround Sound technology and Sony DSP processing, 390 watts of power, and 12 high-quality premium speakers including two subwoofers. BLIS™ with Cross Traffic Alert
The available class-exclusive* BLIS™ (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross Traffic Alert is yet another new innovation available on the 2010 Ford Fusion. Using two multiple-beam radar modules positioned in the rear quarter panels, the system’s radar detects moving objects within an area on either side of the vehicle extending rearward from the outside mirror to approximately 10 feet beyond the bumper. With BLIS™ (Blind Spot Information System), the radar identifies a vehicle entering the defined blind spot zone and illuminates an indicator LED light on the corresponding side view mirror when you’re signaling. The Cross Traffic Alert feature provides an audible warning, as well as an indicator light in the corresponding sideview mirror, that a vehicle is crossing while you’re backing out of a parking spot or your driveway. *Class is mid-size sedans.
Rear View Camera
Put the gear selector in Reverse and the optional Rear View Camera automatically transmits the image to your rearview mirror (shown), when you’re slowly backing up. If your Fusion is equipped with the available Navigation System, the image is shown on the navigation screen.
Reverse Sensing System
The class-exclusive* Reverse Sensing System uses an audible signal to alert you to an obstacle up to 6 feet behind you when you're slowly backing up. The alert sound becomes more frequent and louder the closer the vehicle gets to the object. It’s optional in Fusion SE, SEL and Sport models, and standard in the Fusion Hybrid.

More Power Choices
If you're looking for responsive performance in the most fuel-efficient mid-size sedan in America, the 2.5L Duratec I-4 engine with advanced features like intake variable cam timing technology is the way to go. It cranks out 175 horses and 172 lbs.-ft. of torque, while delivering EPA-estimated 23 City/34 Highway/27 Combined mpg*. Pretty impressive! The 3.0L Duratec V6 is equipped with variable-cam timing and flex-fuel (E-85) capability. Its 240 horsepower rating is up more than 19 horses over the previous 3.0L V6. The 3.5L Duratec V6 generating 263 horsepower is the feature powerplant in the new Fusion Sport model, which also comes equipped with a modified sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch painted aluminum wheels, sport trim inside and out, Ford SYNC® Communications and Entertainment System, and much more. And there’s the all-new Fusion Hybrid. While so much attention is paid to its outstanding best-in-class fuel economy,† the 2.5L Atkinson-Cycle Hybrid I-4 system combines with the electric motor to generate 191 net horsepower rating, delivering the responsive power you need, when you need it .

All-Wheel Drive
The V6-powered Fusion with class-exclusive* All-Wheel Drive (AWD) improves traction and handling on any surface where wheel slip can occur, such as ice, snow, mud, gravel or even dry pavement. It constantly monitors driving conditions and distributes engine torque to the wheels with the most traction. So if the front wheels are experiencing poor traction, AWD will automatically transfer more torque to the rear wheels or the wheels having the most traction. At highway speed, the AWD system automatically deactivates to help conserve fuel but is able to reactivate if wheel slip is anticipated or detected.
New 18” Aluminum Wheels
These 18” painted aluminum wheels mounted on low-aspect-ratio P255/45VR18 tires are yours on the exciting new Fusion Sport. This unique tire/wheel set is linked to sport-tuned suspension components for a tight, sporty feel on the sharpest of corners.
AdvanceTrac® ESC
AdvanceTrac® ESC (Electronic Stability Control) automatically applies the brakes and modulates engine torque whenever it detects wheel slip, and helps avoid skidding and fishtailing by controlling understeer and oversteer. It also helps maintain more control under conditions such as ice, gravel or rain, providing more confident stopping power.
Bold New Hood and Grille
Ford designers took an already bold design and made it even more dynamic, from the new power-dome hood to the familiar Ford 3-bar chrome grille that’s more pronounced, complementing the more aggressive shape of the hood. Sport model shown.

The new quad-beam halogen headlamps do more than illuminate your way at night. Special black bezels and chrome rings on the headlamps help blend into the 3-bar chrome grille, accentuating the bold, dynamic styling of the 2010 Ford Fusion. Notice as well the fog lamps flanking the more aggressive shape of the air dam. Fog lamps come standard on Fusion SE, SEL, Sport and Hybrid.
Ambient Lighting
Pick one of the seven colors in the Ambient Lighting feature to express your mood. You can add colorful accents in the front and rear footwells, front center console bin, and front two cupholders. Ambient Lighting is standard in Fusion SEL and available in the new Sport model with the Electronics Package. It’s also standard in the Fusion Hybrid.
