- Just how strong is the Ford Ranger pickup? With 207 horsepower and 238 lb.-ft of torque from the optional 4.0-liter V6, you can tow up to 5,760 lbs. Choose Ranger 4x4 and you can engage both axles at the turn of a knob. Ranger gives you what you want from a full-size pickup in a compact truck that’s priced much less.

Shift-on-the-Fly 4-Wheeling
Ranger 4x4 models are powered by a standard 4.0L V6 engine and feature an electronic “shift-on-the-fly” transfer case, which lets you shift between 2WD and 4WD High or Low.
4x2 and 4x4 Suspensions
Ranger's independent short/long arm front suspension with stabilizer bar keeps the ride smooth under normal driving conditions for XL and XLT 4x2. But for rougher going, especially off the road, a front torsion bar is substituted on XLT 4x4 and SPORT 4x2 and 4x4 models, which also get jolt-absorbing heavy-duty gas shocks. The Rancho® heavy-duty gas-charged shocks for 4x4s are included in the available Payload Package.
Efficient Transmissions
Both transmission choices, standard manual and optional automatic, have an overdrive 5th gear that helps conserve fuel while cruising at highway speeds. Teamed with the standard 2.3L I-4 engine, the 5-speed plays a big part in achieving Ranger's best-in-class fuel economy.*

Safety - More Standard Safety Features Than Ever
New Seat Side Airbags
The Personal Safety System™ with its state-of-the-art dual-stage driver and front passenger airbags and front passenger sensing system has been a Ranger standard safety feature. And now, Ranger also comes equipped with front seat side air bags that provide enhanced head and torso protection in certain side impacts. The side air bags are designed to protect the head, minimizing lateral head injuries in the event of a collision, in addition to acting as a barrier between the occupant and the side of the vehicle.
Standard 4-Wheel ABS
Standard equipment on all Ranger pickups is an Anti-Lock Braking System, which delivers smooth, straight stops, and helps you maintain control while braking under a variety of driving conditions.
Standard Advance Trac® with RSC®
2010 Ford Ranger now comes equipped with industry-exclusive AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control ™ (RSC®). It's the only stability control system with gyroscopic sensors that measure both vehicle yaw and roll motion. Corner too quickly or swerve to avoid an object and RSC will selectively apply brake pressure and adjust engine power to help keep you under control.*
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
It's important to check your tire pressure regularly to keep all four inflated within the manufacturer's specified pressure range. Tire pressure affects ride comfort, safety, and fuel economy. That’s why all Ranger models come equipped with a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which automatically alerts you when a tire is low.
